GLOBAL INDUSTRY LEADERS GATHER TO CHART GROWTH STRATEGY IN RUBBER, WITH FOUR STRATEGIC THRUSTS TO LEAD RUBBER MARKET TO NEW HEIGHTS

GLOBAL INDUSTRY LEADERS GATHER TO CHART GROWTH STRATEGY IN RUBBER,
WITH FOUR STRATEGIC THRUSTS TO LEAD RUBBER MARKET TO NEW HEIGHTS

Bi-annual gathering of rubber experts to set tone in preparing for rise of rubber market in 2017

Singapore, March 7, 2017 The bi-annual World Rubber Summit 2017, jointly organised by the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) and SingEx Exhibitions, as a crucial component of World Rubber Week, will host a suite of wide-ranging thought-provoking topics and plenary
discussion forums, including four crucial trends affecting the rubber industry directly in 2017:climate change and its synergies and trade-offs; industry consolidation; smart agriculture for new levels of efficiency and cost, and demand and supply factors that will impact commodity prices. Close to 5,000 delegates from over 100 countries will spend three days in various knowledge exchange and trade platforms spread across three events at World Rubber Week the World Rubber Summit, Rubber Exchange Forum and Tyrexpo Asia.

WORLD RUBBER SUMMIT 2017 AND THE FUTURE OF RUBBER

As global demand for rubber is forecasted to rise almost 4% annually to 31.7 million metric tons by 2019, with gains continuing to be driven by increase in tyre manufacturing, China and AsiaPacific will post the fastest growth in rubber consumption through 2019 and account for nearly
two-thirds of global demand in that year. Against this backdrop, World Rubber Week will address both this demand phenomenon, as well as global supply matrices, to drive discussion on market developments, forge new collaborations and knowledge-share on the latest in rubber technology and innovation, in order to leverage on the markets anticipated growth spurt. Summit participants from renowned leaders in global rubber and commodities markets will include speakers from Olam International, Halcyon Agri and LMC International, amongst others.

World Rubber Week will welcome, for the first time, one of the worlds most prestigious financial futures forecasters, Mr Jason Schenker, to deliver a plenary on the global economy and fire-chat session at the Summit. Mr Schenker, who is ranked the number 1 forecaster in the world by Bloomberg News in 20 categories since 2011, is most renowned for his accuracy in forecasting commodities prices including rubber, crude oil, and natural gas prices, while authoring three Amazon bestsellers: Commodity Prices 101 (2012), Recession-Proof (2016), and Electing
Recession (2016).

THE FOUR STRATEGIC THRUSTS

The aptly themed Summit Orderly Growth for a Healthy Industry is designed to address broad, strategic policy-led issues impacting the global rubber trade, and examines how industry leaders can adjust to changing world economies amidst global paradigm shifts through four crucial trends that will steer key strategy discussions during the Summit.

The effects of climate change, its synergies and trade-offs will be a topic for deliberation, and ongoing consolidation of the natural rubber value chain will also be an important issue discussed.Climate smart agriculture in transforming and re-orienting agricultural development, acting as
enablement for new levels of productivity, adaptation and mitigation, as well as current and future impact on commodity prices through demand and supply are also core content areas, building a strong four-pillar thrust to propel the global rubber industry forward.

Mr Adrian Sng, General Manager of SingEx Exhibitions Pte Ltd, said: These are exciting times in the rubber market, and World Rubber Week as the de facto global platform for the international rubber community plays an important, leading role in the future of the commodity. SingEx is proud to assist in charting the future development of rubber through providing the stage for the market to thrive.

REDUCING RISK EXPOSURES AND MANAGING SUSTAINED PROFITABILITY THROUGH
HEDGING - RUBBER EXCHANGE FORUM 2017

The Rubber Exchange forum to be held at the Singapore Exchange (SGX) will center on sharing the use of hedging tools as part of risk management strategy in the commodities market, and targets finance professionals directly, especially those involved in commodities trading, including rubber.

Presented by Mr Filipe Moscoso from Macquarie Bank Ltd (Singapore), Senior Vice President of Agricultural Sales and Trading (Metals, Mining and Agriculture Division) Commodities and Financial Markets, Mr Moscosos expertise in structured risk management, financing and physical solutions for clients in agricultural sectors in Australasia and New Zealand will benefit forum attendees eager to take advantage of the various tools discussed, including understanding differences between trading on exchanges and over-the-counter, and tying derivatives back to
sales or procurement programs in rubber exchanges.
